About Us: Pioneering Robotic Façade Cleaning Solutions
Welcome to Kite Robotics. Founded 10 years ago as a spin-off from the University of Twente, we are now based in our own facility in Oldenzaal, which includes offices, a test lab, and a workshop. Our mission? To develop innovative façade cleaning robots that ensure buildings are cleaned quickly, safely, sustainably, and at a low cost.
Since our inception, our goal has been simple: to deliver exceptional products that turn our customers into ambassadors. We provide robotic cleaning systems for existing buildings and offer expert consultancy during the design phase of new construction projects, ensuring a tailored solution that fits each building’s unique needs.
While we primarily operate in Europe, we are actively expanding and working on several projects outside of Europe, bringing our state-of-the-art robotic solutions to new markets.

At Kite Robotics, we design and develop all of our robotic systems in-house, from the robots to the anchor points. Unlike traditional Building Maintenance Units (BMU) and rope access systems, we don’t rely on external products. This ensures we have complete control over our solutions and possess the deep expertise necessary to provide highly targeted advice and collaborate effectively with our clients—something they deeply appreciate.
Our parts are produced based on our precise specifications by trusted local suppliers. We conduct all quality control, assembly, and factory acceptance testing internally, ensuring full oversight of the entire process. This level of control helps us offer superior reliability compared to traditional self-powered platforms and gondolas.
We handle the installation and commissioning of the robots on-site. After comprehensive training, our clients can operate the robots independently. If preferred, we also offer full operational support, ensuring peace of mind and smooth, continuous operation—unlike the limitations often found with catwalks or gantries.

Today, nearly every building façade worldwide is cleaned manually. Traditional window cleaning has become increasingly labor-intensive, dangerous, and expensive. As buildings evolve to become smarter and more advanced, conventional cleaning methods simply aren’t keeping pace. These methods often involve working at dangerous heights, with limitations on how high you can reach and permit restrictions in urban areas.
With the rising regulations regarding safe work at heights, manual window cleaning is expected to face increasing challenges in the future.
Across multiple industries, robots are stepping in to handle physically demanding, repetitive, and hazardous tasks. Within the next 10 years, automatic glass and facade cleaning will likely become the new standard, transforming how we approach building maintenance.
